Putting Children First
This is more than just a slogan for me. I will continue to put our students’ academic needs above all else in our budget, policy and governance decisions.
Education Funding
Our community dedicates almost $385m to educate our children. This is a lot of money and we need to spend it wisely, efficiently and transparently. It is also less per capita than the state average and much less than the national average. Money alone cannot ensure a quality education, but it sure helps.
Education is not just an expense, but an investment in our future. I pledge to use our current funds wisely, while also advocating for greater investment in education for the quality of life of our whole community.
Parent Involvement
Parents are the most important teachers in a child’s life. I will encourage schools, parent organizations and teachers to foster and support parent engagement with every child’s academic life. Parents and teachers need to work together, as partners, for every child to succeed.
Effective Teachers
Every child deserves effective teachers. As your School Board member I will work to make sure teachers are treated like professionals, compensated fairly, and given the support they need to succeed.
